The town of High River is launching a new emergency mass notification system.

High River residents can sign up and then receive emergency alerts directly through phone, email, and text messages.

Residents can choose more than one way to be contacted.  For instance they can sign up with their home, work and cell phone numbers.

As well, the town says it will continue to use its website, Facebook page and Twitter account.

Local radio stations, such as 99.7 FM, 100.9 FM, and AM 1140, will also issue alerts and there are sirens located throughout the town.

Residents can sign up now, but the High River ALERT system won’t be activated until May 1.
