The daytime construction-related traffic tie-ups on a section of Deerfoot Trail in southeast Calgary will soon be alleviated as Alberta Transportation confirms the Ivor Strong Bridge repair project is ahead of schedule.

Early Sunday afternoon, all lanes of traffic reopened on the bridge that spans the Bow River between the Anderson Road/Bow Bottom Trail S.E. interchange and the Douglasdale Boulevard/24 Street S.E. overpass. The posted speed limit in the area has returned to 100 km/h.

Construction work will continue on the bridge at night with lane closures occurring between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. each day.

Bridge work was originally scheduled to be completed on July 4. The repair project commenced on May 13.
