A 21-year-old Saskatchewan man is facing several charges after a traffic stop along the Trans-Canada Highway near Suffield, Alberta.

Redcliff RCMP stopped a minivan around 7 p.m. on Friday.

It was clocked at 149 km/h.

Police say the driver was impaired.

To make matters worse, police say there were six children in the vehicle at the time.

The youngest was eight months old and the oldest was nine years old. One of them was unrestrained in the back of the minivan.

The man is charged with:

  • Impaired driving
  • Driving with a blood alcohol concentration over .08
  • Criminal negligence

RCMP and Child and Family Services are investigating.
