A 47-year-old man from Sundre has succumbed to the injuries he suffered in a late night highway crash east of the town.
Shortly after 11:30 p.m., RCMP, EMS and fire crews responded to a location on Highway 27, approximately 15 kilometres east of Sundre, following a head-on crash involving a car and motorcycle.
According to RCMP, the eastbound car crossed the centre line and collided with the westbound motorcycle.
The 47-year-old motorcyclist was airlifted by a STARS Air Ambulance to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary where he succumbed to his undisclosed injuries. The man’s identity has not been released as RCMP attempt to notify his next of kin.
The driver of the car, a 30-year-old man from British Columbia, was arrested at the crash scene. The driver was not seriously injured in the collision.
Charges, including impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death, are pending against the unnamed driver.
RCMP continue to investigate the collision.
