Drivers on Glenmore Trail in Calgary will be delayed by construction crews once again, but the city says it will relieve a major headache in the area.

Crews have begun work on a new, $125M interchange at Ogden Road S.E.

Once the work is complete, ramps will be place at the intersection, allowing for free flowing traffic in the area.

There will also be no more stopping for trains in the area, making Glenmore Trail flow smoothly all the way from Barlow Trail to Sarcee.

Officials say the work is for the benefit of many communities. “The Glenmore interchange delivers that. We solve the cut-through issues. We make life in those neighbourhoods better, but on a big picture. We are moving goods and enabling transit oriented development and the Green Line transit system to really change the way we move people around the city.”

The work is expected to be completed by 2017.
