Albertans using chiropractic services will soon have to pay the full cost.

In Tuesday's budget, the province announced Health Services will no longer be pickup part of the tab for chiropractor visits.

The province currently pays $14 a visit up to a maximum of $200 a year for each patient.

Zarina Chegrinec is on a fixed income and regularly visits a chiropractor for shoulder treatment.

"Can you imagine being in pain all the time and not being able to get any treatment because you're not subsidized for it and you can't afford to pay for the treatments," questions Chregrinec.

Dr. Judy Forrestor is a chiropractor and wonders if delisting will put pressure on the healthcare system.

Forrestor says patients who can't afford chiropractic care may go to urgent care clinics.

The province has not announced when funding for chiropractic care will end but chiropractors suspect it will happen at some point in June.
