Shortly after departing from a crash scene resulting from poor road conditions, members of the Airdrie Integrated Traffic Unit observed a car travelling at an extremely high rate of speed.

Officers were returning to Airdrie from the scene of two crashes on the QEII Highway near Crossfield, when they observed a compact car travelling northbound at an unsafe speed.

According to RCMP, a radar reading indicated the vehicle was travelling 151 km/h in an area where the posted maximum speed limit for ideal driving conditions is 110 km/h.

The offending vehicle encountered slow moving traffic near the crash scene and RCMP members were able to catch up to the car and conduct a traffic stop.

An unidentified 68-year-old man from Calgary was charged with speeding and careless driving.
