If you signed a natural gas contract a couple of years ago there is a good chance you're paying a lot more for gas than those who didn't but changing your plan is just a phone call away.
Angie Aben pays $10.99 per gigajoule to Just Energy, formerly Alberta Energy Savings.
Abens researched current natural gas rates online and found out that people without contracts paid only $4.21 this month.
She called Just Energy to complain and was surprised when the customer service representative instantly lowered it to just $5.99 for the rest of her term.
"It's nearly cut in half, just like that," said Aben.
Aben says the rep told her they had been doing this over the phone for certain customers for about two months.
