Police are searching for a suspect following an early morning stabbing that left one person suffering from a stab wound to his abdomen.

According to police, officers responded to the 7-11 location in the 1600 block of 37 Street Southwest, in the community of Rosscarrock, shortly before 12:30 a.m. Saturday after an injured male entered the store. 

The male victim, age unknown, was transported by ambulance to the Foothills Medical Centre is serious, but non-life threatening condition.

Police determined the man had been stabbed with a pocketknife and the offender fled the scene on foot.

Members of the CPS canine unit scoured the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as:

  • A Caucasian male
  • Believed to be in his 40s
  • Having balding brown hair and a slim build
  • Wearing eyeglasses
