If you’re looking for something to do this Family Day, you can head to the University of Calgary’s Oval and strap on your skates for some free fun, skating with Olympic medalist Catriona Le May Doan.
Sponsored by Intact Insurance, the Family Fun Day at the Oval runs from 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Monday features lots of skating on the world’s fastest ice.
However, if skating isn’t your thing, there are a number of other activities including bouncy houses, face painting, arts and crafts, as well as speed skating and precision skating demonstrations.
Admission to the event is free with a donation to the Food Bank.
Hungry attendees will have a chance to buy a slice of Papa John’s Pizza, with all proceeds going to support development programs at the Olympic Oval.
Le May Doan will also be signing autographs along with members of the Calgary Stampeders.
Visitors are also reminded to bring along a CSA approved helmet. No one will be allowed on ice without one.
