A 20-year-old man has been transported to hospital in critical, life threatening condition following a Wednesday morning collision just north of the University of Calgary campus.

According to police, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the man was crossing 32 Ave. N.W. on his skateboard when he was struck by an eastbound 2008 Chevrolet Aveo at the 33 St. N.W. intersection. The driver of the Aveo, a 43-year-old woman, failed to stop at the marked crosswalk with illuminated pedestrian crossing lights.

The man was transported to hospital by ambulance.

Charges are pending against the driver of the Aveo. Alcohol and drugs are not considered factors in the crash.
