RCMP and Calgary police surrounded an Airdrie business after cornering two male suspects believed to be responsible for a Saturday morning Calgary crime spree.

According to CPS Duty Inspector Patty McCallum, just prior to 9:00 a.m., officers attempted a traffic stop on a truck with two men inside at a location within Calgary city limits.  The driver evaded the police vehicle and sped away.

Police believe the two men are responsible for the robbery of three northeast businesses including a dollar store.

With the assistance of HAWCS, police vehicles chased the truck throughout the city.  The driver of the truck is responsible for at least one hit-and-run collision in his attempt to lose his pusuers.

The chase continued to Airdrie where the truck collided with an unidentified fixed object.  The two men fled on foot to the Toad ‘N’ Turtle Pubhouse and Grill on Market St.

Approximately 50 patrons were not permitted to leave during the ordeal.

At 5:30 p.m., the two men were taken into police custody without incident.
