Three people are dead after a serious accident near Strathmore.

STARS Air Ambluance was called to Township Road 234 and Highway 24 (Range Road 262) shortly after 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

A semi, which had the right of way, was travelling southbound when it t-boned a minivan.

Seven people were injured in the crash. Three died at the scene; two children have been taken to Alberta Children's Hospital in life-threatening condition; one female was flown to Foothills Hospital in life-threatening condition; and one male was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.

Highway 24 has been closed between Glenmore Trail and Highway 22X.

Officials say drivers can expect long delays at the intersection of Highway 560 and Highway 22.
