Two skiers were caught in an avalanche at Sunshine Village Resort at 2 PM Monday afternoon.

The two skiers were on a run called Milky Way in the freeride zone of an area called Delirium Dive.

The two men were buried in the snow, emergency crews dug them out.

They were initially taken to the Mineral Springs Hospital in Banff; one is in serious condition, the other in stable condition.

Both men have since been transported to a Calgary hospital.

Delirium Dive is gated and requires skiers and riders to carry avalanche transceivers, shovels, probes and to have at least one other person with them.

Jim Jones was skiing at Delirium Dive Monday, he says "it's a dangerous sport that we play...you assume the risks".

14 people have died in avalanches this winter in Alberta and B.C.
