Calgary police are looking for a suspect following a Saturday afternoon stabbing near the banks of the Bow River.

At approximately 3:00 p.m., two men were engaged in an argument west of the Langevin Bridge when one of the men stabbed the other in the torso. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

According to police, a number of people witnessed the stabbing which occurred near the pathway alongside Riverfront Ave. S.E.

The victim was transported to hospital by EMS in serious, life threatening condition. As of 5:30 p.m., police confirm the man's condition has been upgraded to stable.

Police are interviewing witnesses and the CPS K-9 Unit and the HAWCS helicopter are searching for the suspect. A weapon has not been located.

The stabbing suspect is described as a tall, Native male wearing a black jacket and white running shoes.
