Calgary police have recovered a precious memento that was stolen from a man whose wife passed away a few years ago.

On September 7, police put out the call for help to locate a wedding ring that was stolen during a break and enter in Haysboro.

The ring belongs to a man whose wife passed away two years ago and was stolen from a residence, along with a laptop computer containing family photographs, sometime on Thursday, August 30, 2012.

Detectives were relentless in their investigation and located the ring last week at a gold purchasing stall in a northeast shopping mall.

Police also recovered jewelry taken during a number of break and enters in the communities of Shawnee Slopes and Varsity.

The ring and laptop have been returned to the victim.

Forensic officers were also able to recover thousands of photos and movies of the victim’s wife and family that were wiped from the hard drive of the laptop after it was stolen.

Four young, male offenders, aged 16 to 17 years old have been arrested as a result of this investigation and are each facing between three and five charges of house break and enter.

Three of the suspects remain in custody and the fourth was released on bail.

All of the accused are scheduled to appear again in court on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012.
