One person died in a two vehicle collision near Three Hills.

RCMP say a pessenger vehicle and a semi tractor trailer unit collided around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 583 and Highway 21

RCMP say the 95-year-old man driving the car was transported to hospital where he later died and the 96-year-old female passenger in that vehicle was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

RCMP said in a news release "Preliminary investigation suggests the passenger car entered the intersection from Highway 583 after the stop sign to make a left turn to head northbound on Highway 21 when it was struck by a southbound semi."

RCMP say names will not be released.

The highway was closed for several hours but re-opened around 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night.
