The province has unveiled its newly updated website providing residents with a valuable tool for learning more about Alberta and their fellow Albertans.

The free website, Official Stats Alberta, offers access to verified information concerning Alberta’s population, employment, education, land use, water quality, and many other topics.

The statistics provided contain the same information the government uses when determining policy and making decisions.

Examples of the statistics available free of charge to the public include:

  • Between 2011 and 2012, the province’s population grew by 2.5 per cent (more than double the growth of the national average)
  • Alberta’s population consists of more men than women (In 2012, there were 104 men for every 100 women).  Alberta is the only province where the number of men outnumbers the female population.
  • Between May of 2012 and May of 2013, the average weekly earnings of Albertans increased by 4.9 per cent.
