The Calgary Medical Examiner's Office has completed an autopsy on the body of a young woman who was killed on Friday morning.

The body of a woman was found near an apartment building in the 200 block of Templegreen Drive N.E. at about 7:20 a.m.

Police believe that she was driving to the hospital with her husband when they began arguing.

The woman tried to get out of the vehicle but got caught in the seatbelt and was dragged for several blocks before the car stopped.

The injured woman then ran to a nearby home but the man caught up to her. He allegedly beat her, then fled, leaving her for dead.

He arrived at the hospital a short time later.

Gagandeep Sidhu, 30, is facing a charge of first-degree murder and will appear in court on Tuesday.

Police are not releasing the cause of death at this time but say the woman's death is considered a homicide.

Police are asking anyone with information on the death contact them at 403-266-1234 or to call Crime Stoppers.
