Beltline crash sends vehicle smashing through Calgary patio
Calgary police say no one was injured in a crash Thursday that sent a minivan careening into a Beltline pub.
The crash between a Kia SUV and Dodge Caravan happened in the intersection of 10th Avenue and First Street S.W. at around 10:40 a.m.
The crash sent the Caravan crashing through the on-street extended patio at Bottlescrew Bills, breaking the wooden structure and knocking over potted plants.
No one was on the patio at the time as the bar doesn’t open until 11 a.m.
"It is believed the driver of the Kia, a woman in her 20s, ran a red light and struck the van causing it to collide with the building," said Calgary police in a statement. "Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the collision."
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Calgary Police Service non-emergency line at 403-266-1234 or to submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
