The B.C. man who led police on a massive manhunt after abducting a little boy was expected to be back in court on Monday.

Randall Hopley was scheduled to go before a judge to determine whether he should be designated a dangerous or long-term offender.

The 47-year-old pleaded guilty to abducting a three-year old boy from his bed in Sparwood, B.C. in 2011.

Hopley held the boy for several days at a cabin and then returned him unharmed four days later.

Crown prosecutors are seeking a dangerous offender designation for Hopley and if they are successful he could be locked up indefinitely.

The hearing was adjourned as a funeral for Hopley's mother was also held on Monday and will resume on Tuesday.
