Every month, CTV Calgary and Volunteer Calgary partner up to bring you stories about extraordinary volunteers.

This month's Volunteer in Profile turned a pastime into a full-time commitment.

When it comes to devotion, Diane Blackwell certainly sets the bar. For the last 20 years, she's been volunteering for Alberta Theatre Projects. From ushering to fundraising, there isn't a job she hasn't done.

"I've always liked theatre and I was looking for things to do when I had some time on my hands with my children all in school," says Diane. "I started volunteering with ATP and haven't stopped since."

When she first signed on, she never would've imagined how much fulfillment she would get out of it.

"I just can't do enough," she says. "It seems that the more I see, the more I like, the more I want to do."

This unwavering dedication has made Diane a star volunteer. Long-time ATP staff member, Di Goodman, has known Diane for as long as she's volunteered with the theatre company.

"She has always been so dependable and pleasant and she's an extraordinary human being," says Di. "I think she does so much for all of us."

Spending time at the theatre and working with the tight-knit community has Diane thankful for the opportunity.

"They make me laugh, they make me cry, and here I am, somebody who just enjoys what I'm doing and I just get so much more in return."

When asked how much longer she'd like to give of her time?

"I'm not a shopper, so I wouldn't shop till I drop but I'd probably do theatre till I drop."
