A Boston-based Uber and Lyft driver, who shares his rides live on Periscope, addressed his recent controversial conversation with Mayor Nenshi and the fallout from it, during his Sunday broadcast.

John Bravvo, a Harvard student who started driving with Lyft in June of 2015, calls his Periscope show ‘Shot Gun: The Uber Experience’ and claims to have had more than 150,000 views.

Bravvo says his recent trip with Calgary’s mayor was a career highlight and he’s proudly recounted the discussion with other passengers.

“I had the mayor of Calgary in my car as an Uber ride,” Bravvo beamed to two of his passengers during a Sunday ride. “He was in town to speak at MIT.”

“I get him talking about Uber and this man goes on a rant.”

Bravvo takes issue with the Canadian media’s coverage of Nenshi’s controversial comments surrounding Uber.

“I’m kind of mad at the Canadian reporters,” said Bravvo during Sunday’s episode. “You all didn’t put none of my name, my Periscope, you didn’t even show me no kind of love.”

During his ride with Bravvo, Nenshi said “Uber, there’s no polite way of saying this, have a brilliant business model and are dicks.”

Nenshi, who was not aware the conversation was being broadcast on Periscope, went on to say the City tested Uber’s background check system using sex offenders and the red flags were not caught.

On Sunday, two of Nenshi’s fellow councillors said they were surprised to hear of Nenshi’s background check claims.

“We can do an investigation,” said Ward 1 councillor Ward Sutherland. “As a councillor, we were not aware of that at all. Not sure why he knows that and council doesn’t.”

“Tomorrow is a council meeting,” said Ward 4 councillor Sean Chu. “I’m hoping a lot of questions can be answered.”

Late Saturday afternoon, Nenshi apologized for his Uber remarks.

“I apologize to Travis Kalanick, CEO of Uber, and his employees for my being, well, a jerk,” said Nenshi in a statement posted to the Calgary Mayor website.

Sutherland says he has filed a complaint with the city’s ethics commissioner on behalf of his fellow councillors.
