Members of the Calgary Police Service, including the Guns & Gangs Unit, escorted three men out of a southeast condo building following an undisclosed Friday night incident. The unnamed men were handcuffed and placed in CPS units shortly after 8:00 p.m.

Police responded to the SoBow Building on Inglewood Park Southeast, near the intersection of Blackfoot Trail and 19 Street Southeast after a citizen reported four people had once again gained access to the building's parkade and were prowling vehicles.

Officers blocked the parkade's exits and searched the secured underground facility on foot. The CPS members located and challenged the four intruders. According to police, the situation escalated and the four suspects entered a vehicle, later determined to be stolen. A CPS member fired their service firearm, fatally striking the man behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle.

Charges are pending against the three surviving suspects. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

ASIRT is investigating the actions of the CPS member.

According to a notice from Blackstone Property Management Inc. to the owners and tenants of SoBow dated July 14, 2016, four individuals gained access to the same parkade on Thursday morning. Several bicycles were stolen and the intruders smashed a number of vehicle windows.
