Officials with Lethbridge School District No. 51 confirm a police investigation is underway into an undisclosed threat against Gilbert Paterson Middle School and, as a precaution, the school will be closed to students on Friday.
School officials and district administration were notified of a potential threat on Thursday against the school in the 2100 block of 12 Avenue South and the Lethbridge Police Service launched an investigation into its validity.
According to the school district, regular school operations are expected to resume after the weekend. "Parents and students can assume matters will be taken care of and school will resume Monday morning," said Garrett Simmons, communications officer with Lethbridge Scholl District No. 51 in a statement.
