On Sunday afternoon, more than six years after the murder of Jackie Crazybull, dozens of people marched near the spot where the mother of nine was slain in a brutal attack.
The annual gathering is organized to demand justice in the 2007 murder which remains unsolved.
On July 11, 2007, Crazybull was one of five people stabbed in a spree of violence that shocked even the most hardened police officers.
Crazybull bled to death on the sidewalk along 17 Ave. S.W. near 11 St. after being stabbed by an unknown assailant.
The family says they have not had closure as the murderer remains at large and the police case remains active.
“We do grieve daily, we don't just grieve once a year,” says Sandra Manyfeathers O’Hara, Jackie’s sister. “It’s brought to the public’s attention once a year and, in that light, it’s a positive thing for us.”
Four people were stabbed in similar attacks on the night of Crazybull’s murder but their injuries were not fatal.
