A hearing for the man who kidnapped a three-year-old Sparwood boy in 2011 continued in Cranbrook Supreme Court on Tuesday.
Randall Hopley pleaded guilty to abducting Kienan Hebert from his bed in September 2011.
The little boy was returned four days later and appeared to be unharmed.
Hopley is in court this week to determine whether he should be declared a dangerous of long-term offender.
On Tuesday, court heard several reports from assessments done on Hopley while he was in prison for the sexual assault of a five-year-old boy in 1985. Hopley spent two years in prison for the crime.
At the time, one psychological assessment concluded that Hopley was a danger to society because of an absence of remorse and resentment towards authority figures.
Another report noted that Hopley's limited cognitive functions made him unable to understand the consequences of his behaviors.
A later progress report showed that he did take advantage of remedial sessions in reading and math, but refused any other programming or intervention that was offered through the prison system.
In 2008, Hopley was convicted of break and enter to commit an indictable offence the intent of which was to kidnap a ten-year-old boy from his foster home. He was handed an 18 month jail term and a three year probation period for that offence.
Hopley was still on probation in September of 2011 when he took Kienan Hebert from his home.
The Crown is asking for a dangerous or long-term offender designation which could result in a longer prison term or stricter supervision orders.
