The Defence begins its case Monday at a high-profile trial.

Daniel Tschetter is facing five charges of manslaughter and criminal negligence for allegedly causing a deadly crash on the outskirts of the city.

On December 7, 2007, Tschetter was driving a cement truck when he rear-ended a car stopped at a red light.

Five people in the car, including three children, were killed.

Last week, the Crown called several witnesses, many of whom testified Tschetter appeared drunk at the time of the crash.

Tschetter's lawyer says his client was driving erratically, but denies he was drunk.

The Defence is scheduled to begin its arguments Monday morning.
