A large section of ice floating down the Bow River east of Calgary is causing big problems for a community still trying to gather their footing after June’s flooding.

The ice, along with the heavy spring runoff, is causing the river to overflow and flood several cabins.

About 35 people and half a dozen roadways have been affected by this recent round of flooding.

Tom Littlechild, Director of Emergency Services in the area, says there is high concern.

“There’s potential it can get worse. The big issue is crossing some of these roads.”

One of two bridges across the Bow in the Siksika First Nation was washed out during last year’s flood.

It’s expected to be rebuilt by the end of June.
