Calgary police are investigating the discovery of two dead bodies at a residence in the community of Evanston.

At approximately 12:50 p.m. Thursday afternoon, officers made the grisly discovery of a woman and a young child, believed to be approximately 8-years-old, in serious medical distress after neighbours made a call to 9-1-1.  Both victims were declared deceased at the scene.  There was no one else in the home when police arrived.

Police have cordoned off an area surrounding the home in the 200 block of Evanspark Circle NW.

The CPS Major Crimes Unit and Homicide Unit are leading the investigation.

A suspicious vehicle was seen fleeing the scene.  Didsbury RCMP located the suspect vehicle at approximately 3:30 p.m. along the QEII highway.  A man has been taken into RCMP custody and is being questioned by officers.

According to neighbours, the residents of the Evanston home are believed to consist of two brothers and their respective families and as many as five children, ranging in ages from two to ten-years-old, live in the house.
