One man has been transported to hospital in serious, potentially life threatening collision following a noon hour crash in the southwest.

According to EMS spokesperson Stuart Brideaux, at approximately noon, emergency crews responded to the intersection of Bow Trail and 45 Street Southwest following reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle.

“A grey Mercedes was eastbound on Bow Trail approaching 45 Street,” said Sgt. Darren Wood of the Calgary Police Service. “The vehicle was making a turn to go northbound on 45 Street. A motorcycle was travelling westbound on Bow Trail and struck the Mercedes.”

‘We don’t have any indicators on speed or who was at fault.”

The motorcyclist, a man in his early thirties, was transported by ambulance to the Foothills Hospital. The man had suffered numerous traumatic injuries including injuries to his head and legs.

The driver of the second vehicle, a Mercedes sedan, was assessed at the crash scene. She did not require additional medical treatment.

A section of Bow Trail was closed following the collision but reopened to traffic shortly after 3:00 p.m.. The Calgary Police Service Traffic Unit is investigating the crash and officers are interviewing witnesses.
