Music fans from across the country have descended on McMahon Stadium to take in the sights and sounds of the Alberta Flood Aid Concert.

Brent Butt is hosting the star-studded show which includes performances from some of Canada's greatest artists including Nickelback, Jann Arden, Randy Bachman, Tom Cochrane, Colin James, Mathew Good, Loverboy and Ian Tyson.

The pre-show entertainment got underway at 2:30 p.m. in the east parking lot of McMahon Stadium with 'Boots On! Stage’.

The Calgary Stampede Caravan's event featured five YYC food trucks and several Alberta musical acts and was free to concert goers.

The big show kicked off just after 6:00 p.m. and all proceeds from the event are going to support the Calgary Foundation’s Flood Rebuilding Fund.

"We're honoured to be here, we're excited for it" said band members from Tasman Jude. "Everyone is just willing to be a part of this and it's important for what's happened here."

"This is what we do for a living so we try and do what we can to help and raise money for a great cause," said Randy Hutchings from Rustic Brothers.

Concert organizer Peter Jurisic says that they’ve sold just over 30,000 tickets to the event.

"It's amazing," said Jurisic. "It's a once in a lifetime show."

Calgary Transit is offering free rides to and from the event. All people have to do is display their Flood Aid concert ticket.

A full broadcast of the concert is available on Bell Satellite Channels 832 (HD), 399 (SD), and on Bell Fibe Channels 993 (HD) and 994 (SD).

Organizers are also extending another chance for people to donate to the flood relief effort. Those interested can text ABFLOOD to 20222 to donate $10.
