Another oil and gas company, which employs hundreds of people in Calgary, is announcing layoffs in the wake of low oil prices.

California-based Chevron said earlier this year that it would be laying off employees after its earnings were barely a third of what they were the year before.

The company said that up to 7,000 people could lose their jobs.

There are no details on where those jobs could be lost, but 500 people work for Chevron in Calgary.

Chevron says that Canadian workers will be affected in the layoffs.
