A weekend stabbing death at a downtown bar has provoked calls to get rid of the establishment.
A man was found stabbed to death in the tavern of the Cecil Hotel early Sunday morning.
Local store owners and even some Cecil customers say getting rid of the hotel would help eliminate problems in the area.
One local store owner says the problems became much worse about five years ago when crack-cocaine became more prevalent.
"We see assaults and you know name it on the street almost every day so certainly that climate of fear is pervasive and it's almost 24/7," said Steven Saretsky a local business owner.
The establishment's licence goes up for review at the end of the month after a police complaint.
CTV News did contact Cecil owner Sam Silberman but so far he has refused to comment.
