Kendra Reno wanted to take advantage of the Olympics being hosted in her own back yard and decided to buy tickets to the Canada men's hockey game in Vancouver on Tuesday night.
Reno purchased the tickets from a UK online ad for $500 and waited for the tickets to arrive.
When the tickets never came, Reno and her mother became suspicious and tried to contact the seller with no luck.
The pair had already bought plane tickets to Vancouver so Reno's mother worked the phone on Tuesday and managed to secure legitimate tickets to the game, although they came at a steeper price.
Kendra Reno who had never purchased tickets online before says that if you have any doubts, don't do it, even if it sounds legitimate.
Reno and her mother flew out just for the night and returned to Calgary right after the game.
