A suspected Wednesday morning carbon monoxide leak at a home in McKenzie Towne has claimed one life and sent three adults and four children to hospital for medical treatment.
At approximately 10:15 a.m., emergency crews responded to a home in the 200 block of Elgin Way S.E. following reports the occupants of the building were ill.
According to EMS spokesperson Adam Loria, EMS members located four children, between the ages of one and four years old, and three adults displaying ‘symptoms consistent with being exposed to a noxious substance’. The seven patients were transported by ambulance to local hospitals in stable, non-life threatening condition.
The body of a fourth adult was discovered on the property. Responding paramedics believe the man’s death was the result of self-inflicted injury.
The Calgary Police Service is investigating the matter.
