Calgary police say the death of man discovered by a jogger in South Glenmore Park on Tuesday evening is not being considered suspicious.
At about 7 p.m., a jogger found a man in his 40s unconscious on the pathway.
EMS rushed to the scene and took him to Foothills Hospital where he later died.
Investigators say it appears the man suffered stab wounds to his upper body.
Police called the Homicide Unit but have since declared the death 'not suspicious'.
“It’s an undetermined death, as I mentioned,” Duty Inspector Joel Matthews said on Tuesday. “There are things in the investigation that evolve very quickly so we’re leaving it at that.”
Matthews says the man’s death was not the result of a heart attack or any other natural cause. He says the man did suffer a serious injury but isn’t specific on what type.
“It’s not often that we find someone unconscious on the path when they’ve suffered an injury and that’s why we’ve called it an undetermined death at this point.”
Police have spoken with several witnesses at the scene.
The Medical Examiner will be looking into the case on Wednesday but it is unlikely police will release further information at this time.
