Calgary police are turning to the public for help in identifying a man who may hold information in connection to the 2012 murder of 20-year-old Gatleak Metkurjock.

In January of 2012, a badly injured Metkurjock was located outside of a residence in the 2100 block of 16 St. S.W.  Metkurjock was transported to hospital by EMS, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.

An autopsy determined the 20-year-old died as a result of blunt force trauma.

Police have located surveillance video from a Bankview convenience store which includes footage of a man who may have witnessed the attack on Metkurjock.

The witness is described as:

  • A black male
  • Between 18 and 25-years-old
  • Medium build

Police believe the possible witness goes by the nickname ‘Lucky’. Lucky is not believed to have played a role in Metkurjock’s death.
