The Premier and Health Minister met with physicians in Calgary on Friday morning to talk about their concerns with the health system.

Premier Alison Redford and Health Minister Fred Horne sat down with doctors to discuss the ongoing allegations of physician intimidation.

The Health Minister says the meeting had nothing to do with the upcoming election.

"I am grateful to the people that came to the meeting today with Premier Redford. I think this is a discussion that we've been having sort of individually for some time," said Horne.

The opposition says they aren't buying it.

"It's sheer electioneering on behalf of the Health Minister and this government. A desperate attempt to regain lost public confidence, lost professional confidence and a declining quality of care in this province that is not going to improve until we get a public inquiry," said Alberta Liberal MLA, David Swann.

At the end of February, the province committed to adopting the 21 recommendations that came out of a healthcare review by the Health Quality Council.

The recommendations included the creation of a task force to tackle health system governance and role clarity with respect to the College of Physicians and Surgeons.
