The province is planning to spend more than a million dollars for a gym for 200 students attending a temporary school in Elbow Park.

The students are about to move to a temporary school after their school was destroyed in the June floods.

The temporary school is made up of portables, which are almost complete, and a temporary gymnasium will also be built on the site at a cost of $1.1 M.

The total cost of the temporary facility for Elbow Park students will be $5.3 million and the CBE says students are only expected to be in the portables for two school years.

The temporary portables are going up adjacent to another CBE school which already has a functioning gym and the Alberta director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation questions the expense considering the current provincial deficit.
