Questions are being raised about whether more could have been done to save the two people involved in a fatal crash.

One of the eye witnesses to the incident says he was surprised by how long it took Cst. Jens Lind to help the two people trapped in the burning SUV.

Viewer video taken shortly after impact shows Cst. Lind taking the passenger out of the vehicle about four minutes after the video started rolling.

Some have called the officer's actions heroic but one eyewitness is questioning the response time he saw.

"He just didn't seem to be going as quick as I thought he would. I mean, I thought there might be people in there and it was surprising," says the witness who does not want to be identified.

The head of the Calgary Police Association says he watched the video and feels the officer's actions were warranted given the risks.

John Dooks says police officers do not have the same training and equipment as firefighters and the officer risked his life to try and save those trapped inside.

"It's reckless to go running into a burning building or go opening doors on a burning vehicle when you don't know what the potential hazards are."

Cst. Lind is on administrative duties pending the outcome of the ASIRT investigation.
