Ralph Klein Park was officially opened by Mayor Nenshi in a ceremony attended by Ralph Klein himself.

Klein, the former Alberta Premier and Mayor of Calgary, assisted Nenshi in pressing the switch to the park's large waterfall.

The 30 hectare park is the first of its kind in Calgary as it incorporates cutting edge environmental education, storm water management and storm water conservation. The Environmental Education and Ethics Centre will inform guests on the importance of sustainable water management.

"This park and the Environmental Education and Ethics Centre are remarkable places for Calgarians to enjoy," says Mayor Nenshi. "The integration of wetlands, storm water treatment, nature enjoyment, environmental education, and public art provides a truly unique experience and makes Ralph Klein Park an instant treasure for all Calgarians."

The $32 million park was funded through the ENMAX legacy fund.
