A woman from the Stoney Nakoda Nation was killed after the vehicle she was driving crashed into a concrete support along the Trans-Canada Highway.

Police were called to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 1 at the Highway 1X overpass at about 10:00 a.m. Tuesday.

A 47-year-old woman was the lone occupant and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators say the 2003 Dodge Ram pickup was travelling eastbound when it left the road and entered the center median where it crashed into the overpass’ concrete support.

Canmore RCMP are investigating and are asking anyone with information to contact them at (403) 678-5516, or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
