RCMP officers are hoping a Crime Stoppers reenactment will help them figure out who is killing wild horses near Sundre.

"A motive is they don't want [the horses] in the area, the don't think they should be here. That is not their decision to make, they are taking it into their hands to execute theses horses, get rid of them from in the area," says Sgt. Patrick Webb.

Since the early 90's, nearly 30 of the wild horses have been shot to death.

"I get a chill from it. It's horrifying when I get the phone call that someone has found more shot horses," says Doreen Henderson who helped found the Wild Horses of Alberta Society (WHAS).

On Tuesday, a reenactment of the horse deaths was filmed in hopes of generating new tips.

The latest shooting happened at the end of April. Police say three horses were near the road when they were shot by someone using a high-powered rifle.

"To be taking the opportunity to sit in a vehicle, or next to it, and shoot an animal that has done nothing wrong is cowardly and disgusting," says Sgt.Webb.

To help catch those responsible for the killings, a $25,000 reward is being offered.

Anyone with information that could help police with the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
