Harvie Passage on the Bow River remains closed to the public for another season after it was damaged in the 2013 floods, and now booms are being installed.

The water feature on the river was popular with kayakers and other river users before being significantly damaged by the floodwaters. There are exposed pipes, gravel deposits and loose rocks that pose a danger to users.

In order to remind users of the closure, three seasonal safety barriers are being installed. The orange safety booms connected by chains span the entire width of the passage and form a barrier to water traffic.

The booms are located in three spots: upstream of the passage near the CP Rail bridge, and both upstream and downstream of the Diversion Headworks.
