A Calgary Police Service investigation into a Thursday morning home invasion in the northwest has led to charges against six people.

Early Thursday morning, police were called to a home in the 100 block of Citadel Peak Circle Northwest following reports armed men had gained entry to the residence.

The offenders allegedly tied up the two occupants and seriously assaulted a disabled man in a wheelchair. The suspects fled after removing several items from the home which housed a small marijuana grow-operation.

The residents of the home freed themselves after approximately an hour and called for help. One of the men suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to hospital in serious condition.

On Thursday afternoon, police stopped a vehicle in the 2800 block of 10 Street Southwest in connection with the home investigation. Officers located marijuana and a pistol with a prohibited high capacity magazine and two men were arrested.

The investigation led officers to a condo unit in the 800 block of 4 Avenue Southwest where four additional suspects were apprehended.

Six people face charges in connection with the home invasion including:

  • Amardeep Deol, 24, of Calgary
  • Gagandeep Singh Sandhu, 24, of Sherwood Park, Alberta
  • Brandon Allen Mayes, 22, of Grand Prairie, Alberta
  • Steven Gavin Sampson, 20, of Grand Prairie, Alberta
  • Alexander Safarik, 27, of Burnaby, B.C.
