Calgary Police are on scene at a popular shooting range in the southeast after a truck smashed into the building.

They were called to the Shooting Edge, on 7600 Blackfoot Trail S.E., at just after 6 a.m.

A black pick up truck backed into the building and then took off.

Police say there was minor damage to the building but it doesn’t appear that anyone broke in.

J.R. Cox, the owner of the gun shop, says that he's reviewed closed circuit camera video connected to the incident and says the truck was used in the attempted break in, but the thieves couldn't get inside.

Officers found a black truck with damage to its rear bumper abandoned a few blocks north of the gun shop.

They are still tracking down the driver.

According to Cox, damage to the shop is purely cosmetic, but will still take over $10,000 to repair.
