Lethbridge police have taken two people into custody following a lengthy standoff at a home on Dalhousie Court W.

Officers arrived at the home just after 3:00 p.m. to execute an arrest warrant, which resulted in a standoff that lasted almost three hours.

Residents near the scene were asked to stay in their homes and take shelter during the ordeal.

Police say that the suspect resisted arrest and was armed with a knife. Officers also believed there were additional weapons in the home.

Two men, a 27-year-old and a 19-year-old, were arrested without incident and charges are pending.
