RCMP have reopened all westbound lanes of the TransCanada Highway from the Alberta-British Columbia border to the town of Field, British Columbia after a Wednesday morning collision prompted the highways closure for several hours.
According to RCMP, the single vehicle crash occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. MST at a location roughly 16 kilometres east of Field, B.C. Officers say an eastbound semi struck a concrete barrier, broke through a second barrier, and jack-knifed into the westbound lanes of the highway.
The truck driver and a passenger were transported to the Mineral Springs Hospital in Banff with minor injuries.
Police believe speed was a factor in the crash and charges are pending against the truck driver.
