A man wanted on 22 warrants has turned himself into police.

Sanjai Prasad turned himself in on Tuesday evening.

The 35-year-old was wanted in connection to fraud.

Police say three city financial institutions reported losing thousands of dollars because of debit card theft and counterfeit, or stolen, cheques.

The fraud has been going on since January 2007.

Investigators say the suspect would gain the trust of victims and convince them to provide him with their debit card and PIN.

He would then allegedly deposit counterfeit, or stolen, cheques into the account, and withdraw cash.
